In Time

In Time takes place in a world where time literally means everything. Each second that ticks by is one less second you have to live. Sounds like this one has got exactly what it takes to make a memorable thriller, right? Well, not exactly.

Time Expires on In Time

Prior to seeing In Time, I had some pretty high expectations. I thought the whole premise of the movie sounded pretty damn cool. I mean, a world where time gets you whatever you want seemed awesome. I also had some pretty high hopes for Justin Timberlake. The last film I saw him in was The Social Network and I think he played a killer Sean Parker, so I saw this role without a ceiling for Timberlake.

Unfortunately, I was wrong.

Even with my high hopes and the list of big name actors and actresses, I was simply unimpressed. I felt like In Time could have done so much more with what it was given. The thing that irked me the most was In Time’s lack of identity. You’ll see on the side that I’ve categorized this as a Thriller, but really it could have been so many more things. It’s like In Time tried to be a Thriller, Comedy, Drama and Action film all at once. The guys and girls at 20th Century Fox needed to pick one of the four and stick with it.

It Wasn’t All Bad

Although I’ve been pretty critical of In Time, I do have to admit that it wasn’t all bad. There was plenty of action and gunshots to keep you interested throughout. Another major plus was Amanda Seyfried, who, by the way, looks smokin’ hot in the film (guys you’ll enjoy this part). I have no idea where this came from being that I’ve never thought much of her before, but trust me, looking at her for an hour and 1/2 is nothing to complain about.

The Bottom Line

I’m going to go a bit outside of the box on this one. I’m not going to tell you to go see In Time. I’m also not going to tell you to never see it. My advice for In Time is to grab it from Redbox or On Demand when it comes out. The film is definitely not worth spending your money to go to the theatre, but its entertaining and star-studded enough to make it entertaining. I mean, come on guys, its got Seyfried and Olivia Wilde and girls, its got Timberlake. That would be reason enough for me.
